🚺 International Women’s Day 2025: Only 134 Years to Go! 🙄

Happy International Women’s Day! Or as JPMorgan has subtly reminded us—Happy “Only-134-More-Years-Until-Gender-Equality” Day. Yes, according to their latest report, at the current pace, it will take over a century to close the gender gap globally. So, if you were hoping to see equality in your lifetime, best of luck in the next one. (Fortune)

The official International Women's Day (IWD) 2025 theme is "For ALL women and girls: Rights. Equality. Empowerment." A noble goal—because, shocker, equality isn’t just for the privileged few dressed up as Meritocracy. Whether in boardrooms, voting booths, or classrooms, the fight for actual inclusion continues as UN Women reminds us

Across the globe, women took to the streets demanding equal pay, an end to violence, and actual systemic change. Meanwhile, brands dusted off their girl power posts interestingly highlighting many of their women, rather than pointing to the things they are doing (or now not doing) ot make sure more of them will be in similar positions in the future👀

So, this IWD, let’s ask the real question: Are we celebrating, or just counting down another year of waiting?

🏢Salesforce 🏢

Salesforce has dropped diversity hiring targets from it's most recent annual financial disclosures.

It appears it is in response to the latest Trump moves as they said "While we are not specifying representation goals, we remain committed to our core value of equality," a Salesforce spokesperson told Bloomberg

Salesforce said in the filing that its commitment to equality is "firmly rooted in compliance with federal law and other applicable laws and regulations in the regions in which we operate." Whilst noting "We value the equality of every individual at our company and in our communities and are dedicated to fostering a workplace that complies with these protections, creating an inclusive culture where every individual feels seen, heard and valued."

So this one appears a bit more of a reluctant pull back but hey that's one you can get to grips with. We're just reporting on what they have said themselves

🧠Things that make you go hmmm🧠

💸 OpenAI's AI Agents: The $20,000-a-Month Question

In a move that's sure to make your CFO's day, OpenAI is reportedly gearing up to launch specialized AI agents with price tags reaching up to $20,000 per month💰

Why so high? Well Given Open AI loses around $5bn a year, it's rapidly searching for new ways to make money👀

The agents are designed to tackle high-level tasks, from advanced coding to conducting PhD-level research🎓

🧠 AI Agents: Your New Overpriced Interns? According to reports, OpenAI plans to introduce a tiered pricing structure for these AI agent:

  • $2,000/Month Targeted at "high-income knowledge workers," these agents aim to assist with specialized tasks in various professional field

  • $10,000/Month Geared towards software developers, offering advanced coding assistance and software engineering support

  • $20,000/Month Designed to support "PhD-level research," these top-tier agents are intended for complex research endeavor

💡 So What?

For the Colorintech community, this development raises several questions:

  • *Access and Equity: With such steep pricing, will these advanced AI tools be accessible only to well-funded organizations, potentially widening the gap between tech haves and have-nos?

  • *Value Proposition: Can these AI agents deliver performance that justifies their cost, and if they do what does that mean for the labour market

  • *Competitive Landscape: As AI technology becomes more commoditized, will more affordable alternatives emerge, democratizing access to advanced AI capabilites?

🤖 Y Combinator's Winter 2025 Cohort: When AI Becomes the MVP

In a move that has traditional coders clutching their keyboards, Y Combinator's Winter 2025 batch reveals that 25% of startups have codebases that are 95% AI-generated👀

Yes, you read that right—AI is not just assisting but practically doing the heavy lifting😲

🛠️ From Code Monkeys to Prompt Engineers Dubbed "vibe coding," this trend allows developers to describe desired functionalities in natural language, letting AI handle the nitty-gritty of code generation somewhat like having a junior developer who doesn't ask for coffee break☕️

This isn't the end of humans, However, before we declare the death of manual coding, it's worth noting that AI-generated code isn't without flaws. Bugs, inefficiencies, and security vulnerabilities can creep in, making human oversight crucial but this isn't going away As YC CEO Garry Tan aptly warns, "This isn't a fad. This is the dominant way to code"🤔

So what:?

For the Colorintech community, this shift underscores the importance of adaptability. While AI can accelerate development, the need for skilled oversight remains. Embracing AI tools without abandoning foundational coding skills could be the key to staying relevant in this evolving landscape

📷Fancy sending something 📷

Lets face it, one of the side effects of social media and smartphones is the ability to (let's put it like this) send content you only want a recipient to see🤳🏾

Well the age old problem is, what happens if it gets screenshotted or recorded, or even old school someone just takes a photo of your screen. Well turns out as Sifted puts itn "Encrypted nudes app Linq raises $1.1m"💸

Why? Well it's developed tech that not only uses AI usually to prevent media piracy by letting users grant and revoke others’ access to their lets say intimate content. For example once someone receives an image they can't screenshot it or take a photo of it📷

The app also uses facial recognition technology to prevent someone other than the intended recipient seeing the image, which immediately turns blurry if the front-facing camera detects anyone else looking🤳🏾

This could even have a corporate use case as you can see the case for an acquisition by a document company or social media company looking to enhance user privacy. We just hope the patents are good to stop copycats imitating Linq's ip🤔

💡 So What?

Given they ran a survey that found 49% of people had been shown intimate images of others without that person's permission with 37% admitted they didn't know who had access to their images demand for something like this would probably be out there
